New Patient Information

New patients information for Exceptional Dental Care.

What to expect during your first dental examination?

Your dentist will perform a detailed examination of your oral tissues, including your cheeks, the roof and floor of your mouth, and your tongue. We’ll carefully check for any lumps, bumps, or changes in tissue color, as these can sometimes indicate underlying health concerns.

We’ll also assess your bite (occlusion) to ensure your teeth align properly and will examine each tooth for signs of cavities or other issues. Additionally, we’ll gently check your gums for any indications of gum disease.

Dental X-Rays

To gain a complete understanding of your dental health, we may take a full set of x-rays. These images allow us to detect problems that may not be visible during the examination and help us tailor your treatment plan.

If you’ve recently had dental x-rays at another clinic, we encourage you to bring them with you or have them forwarded to us—this may save time and provide valuable insight.

Reviewing your medical history

We’ll review your medical history, including any medications you’re currently taking and their dosages. Certain medical conditions or medications can affect your oral health. For example, some medications can cause dry mouth, which increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Similarly, conditions like diabetes can heighten the likelihood of developing gum disease.

This information helps us create a personalized preventative care plan to ensure you receive the best possible dental care.

Providing recommendations for future treatment

After completing your examination, we’ll discuss our findings with you and outline any recommended treatments.

If anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask questions.

We understand that it can feel overwhelming to process new information, especially if you’re feeling anxious, and we’re here to ensure you feel fully informed and confident about your care.
